Plankton - Abyss

Now let's enter the mystery of the westcoast indie rap/finnish connection through this dope mixtape.
I have no idea why but this particular indie rap scene always been very much followed in that particular country. Maybe a great way to escape the rough weather with a music who transpires california and its sunny skies, who knows... This connection has been existing through lots of different activists, lots of DJs playing these underground stuff (way before it even reach obscure french messageboards), finnish artists/bands inspired by this sounds (early Ceebrolistics for example, but there's too much of them to mention)... Tommi aka DJ Plankton, owner of the very-lofi-yet-absolutely-lovely Anti-Party Music label was one of those early days activist. He released several mixtapes, sometimes finnish-only stuff, and sometimes, like on this tape, a blend of those 2 worlds...
Let's face it: in 1998 not many people even heard of the Living Legends or Emanon outside Cali (me including of course!), so yeah this guy was one the pionneer i guess...
So here it is, Asop meets Portishead, meets Stanley Clarke, meets some local finnish artist that you never heard of (oh and what's up with EVS' very early Commonwealth group also?), all here on Abyss.
I owe the original, hence the artwork, but the rip is from another slsk dude. Still the same sound though!
