DJ Klock - Direction Of Rainbow (Live Mix In New York)
This is a live mix from 2004, the artwork is from a member of the Barnstormers.
Dj Klock was a one-of-a-kind turntablist, a truly original artist. He released a couple of albums / eps which i could hardly describe... He had this sort of very abstract, minimal sound. That tape is the perfect example of a (great) japanese dj at work: abstract hip hop blends with far out electronica, it's rare when a guy comes with this sort of tracklist and play a set like that in front of an audience.. it takes some balls!
He was one of the few artist i distributed from my label and it was a pleasure working with him... His tapes were kind of challenging and as a dj, he was the kind of guy that makes you think about your own stuff... what do you have to say, how much fresh things you offer to the listener and what makes the difference between you and the thousands other dudes with turntables.
He passed away in 2007. Check his other music if you can, it's worth it.
